The Gold Standard One-Hour Facelift
How can eye lid and face lifts compete in this era of noninvasive lunch-time procedures like Botox, fillers, Fraxel, IPL’s, and Thermage? I’ve practiced facial plastic and cosmetic surgery at Atlanta-based Kim Facial Plastic Surgery center for nearly 15 years. Back in 1998, I offered Botox and collagen injections when they were considered cutting edge, but hadn’t yet received FDA approval. Today, I’m considered an expert in facial cosmetic surgery and minimally invasive procedures and see over 80 patients a month for Botox and fillers, such as Radiesse and Juvederm. I also offer various skincare lasers like IPL’s, Fraxel, Erbium, Q-Swith, etc. Though I see benefits to these innovative products, I do not consider them a substitute for face lifting surgery, which is the gold standard by which every other procedure should be measured against. I often use Botox and Juvederm to complement the facelift, but when face lifting is not an option, due to health reasons or recovery times, these minimally invasive procedures can take the primary role in improving appearance. I perform facelifts in my office under local anesthesia without the use of hospitals or outpatient surgery centers. I’ve now performed over 1,400 one-hour facelifts, which is my version of the modified face lift. The benefits of this procedure are many: no need for dangerous general anesthesia, no lengthy recovery, at a much less cost. This affordable procedure takes care of 90% of the jowls and neck turkey deformity that’s associated with aging. The one-hour facelift does not yield lesser results than traditional facelifts. It’s performed with the normal skin excision and permanent facial muscle tightening, but with much faster and easier recovery. It’s the “modern day facelift;” easy, safe, walk in-walk out, quick recovery, and of course lower cost! The one-hour facelift procedure can be combined with other ancillary procedures like fat injection to obtain an optimal outcome. Face lifting is a two dimensional procedure. Replacing lost volume with one’s own fat (harvested usually from the abdomen) offers a natural way to enhance a youthful look. I have offered the one-hour face lift with fat injections now for over seven years and believe it is the best combination procedure for looking younger at any age. If you have a week or ten days to recover from a procedure, I promise you will end up looking 10 to 15 years younger. Retaining your youthful appearance takes great genes and avoiding direct sunlight and smoking, but when natural aging results in sagging skin and a tired appearance, consult with an experienced qualified facial plastic surgeon to discuss your best alternatives. Whether it’s Botox, Fraxel, Thermage, a one-hour facelift or a combination of these different alternatives, we’d appreciate the opportunity to assist you. The elusive “Fountain of Youth” just may be within reach… Thanks to Fraxel re:pair Laser Treatment
And the best part? One treatment ~ NO Surgery.
Fraxel re:pair is an excellent alternative to a facelift and can even help you avoid one later.
How does Fraxel re:pair work?
This breakthrough laser treatment not only tightens aging, sagging, and damaged skin, but it can actually prevent skin from sagging in the first place ~ And all without the risks, prolonged downtime, or adverse reactions of other procedures--Dramatic results and fast recovery. Who could ask for more?
FDA-approved Fraxel re:pair treats wrinkles, irregular texture, age & sun spots, and sun-induced redness. After just one approximate twenty-minute treatment, you’ll enjoy remarkable results like smoother, consistent skin tone and texture; softening of deep frown lines and wrinkles; and improved appearance of redness caused by sun damage. Treatment results are both immediate and progressive with tighter, softer, more even-toned skin. And the following 3 to 6 months after treatment bring even more improvement as deeper skin layers heal.
For more information about Fraxel re:pair call our Kim Facial Surgery office at (770) 458-4255 to schedule a personal consultation with me and we’ll see if Fraxel is right for you.

Face Lift
Dr. Kun, I am interested in a face lift, but I'm concerned about the cost and time away from work. Is there an alternative to a full face lift that can provide positive results? Do you have samples of before & after photos that I can see, because some of the options I've seen online, sound "too good to be true." Though expense is a stumbling block for me, we're talking about my face and I don't want to be foolish in seeking a youthful look only to end up with an unbalanced or "freaky" looking mess. Anonymous ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Dear " Anonymous" First off, your concerns are common, so though I sense your embarrassment by your anonymous inquiry, I assure you that you are not alone. We've completed countless procedures we call the " ONE HOUR MAGIC LIFT." This modified procedure is popular, because it is done under local anesthesia in about an hour or less and it has minimal recovery--which means less time away from work, friends, and family. One of the biggest benefits of the ONE HOUR MAGIC LIFT is the expense--the ONE HOUR MAGIC LIFT is significantly lower in cost than a traditional face lift. You may have heard of similar procedures such as Quick Lift, Band Aid lift, S-Lift, Lifestyle Lift--The ONE HOUR MAGIC LIFT is my personal version of the modified face lift. I perform the procedure in my office under local anesthesia (light sedation can be given if desired). This procedure takes care of 90% of the jowls and "turkey neck" associated with aging. Depending on your situation, we can combine this face lift with other ancillary procedures for optimal results. One that I suggest is where we use your very own fat. The procedure has very positive results and lasts longer than injectable fillers. Basically, we harvest fat from your abdomen and micro-inject it into your face where needed, such as under eyes and naso-labial folds. Other procedures such as blepharoplasties can also be combined. I've posted one before & after photo for your review, but check out my website for a number of photos from different clients who continue to enjoy their ONE HOUR MAGIC LIFT results...Plus, watch the video...and put your concerns to rest. Then, please give my office a call at (770) 458-4255 to schedule an appointment, so we can chat about your particular needs. I look forward to hearing from you and hope I've helped relieve some of your worries. Ask Dr. Kim About Rhinoplasty Revision Surgery
Dr. Kim, I underwent elective rhinoplasty surgery in my early twenties. At the time, the result seemed better than my natural nose, but I've always felt like my "new" nose looked sort of fake--it has very sharp and pointy features and my nostrils look too big for my face with the tip having two boney points. My other facial features are much more subtle and less chiseled, so my nose just doesn't seem to fit my face. Sometimes I feel silly for wanting to change it again, but it just never met my expectations and ten years later, I'm still unhappy. Is there anything I can do? Thank you, Sarah Sarah, I'm sure every surgeon's intention is to provide patients with a natural look, but sometimes the result just doesn't match the patient's hopes. Before surgery, I try my best to inform and encourage patients to be realistic. I've helped countless patients get the rhinoplasty results they've desired from the start and I've also helped patients like you who need rhinoplasty revision. Let's step back for just a minute to explain what rhinoplasty surgery is for those readers who may be unaware and then we can talk about rhinoplasty revision surgery. Rhinoplasty is surgery to the nose to improve its appearance from birth defects, injury, or simply to improve breathing due to a deviated septum/nasal obstruction/chronic sinusitis. Through surgery, we reshape and enhance the tissue and bones to either reduce or increase the nasal bridge, the slope of the nose, angle or nostrils. Now, to get to you specifically, Sarah: I sense you feel somewhat unreasonable for wanting to revise your rhinoplasty surgery, so I want to assure you rhinoplasty revision surgery is very common. Try not to be upset with yourself, especially since your initial surgery was elective and not due to an injury. I've done countless revision surgeries of this type and advise patients not to psychologically beat themselves up and just know they deserve to be happy. If you're not, it's perfectly understandable and acceptable to make a change. Revision rhinoplasty surgery is different from the primary surgery, because the tissue and cartilage is sometimes over-resected or asymmetrical and the cartilage may be distorted. I take special attention to analyzing the current nasal status and confer with the patient to make sure we're both on the same page and have realistic expectations. By taking that time beforehand, I've had positive results with rhinoplasty revision surgery and my patients have been pleased with the results. I'm sure we can improve the status of your nose, Sarah. Again, don't feel silly for being unhappy with the results of your initial surgery. Especially, since after ten years, you are still not pleased. Set up a consultation with me by calling 770-458-4255 and I'll take a look and give you my suggestions. As you've already found out, it's paramount you trust your surgeon and feel comfortable. Then, you can decide if you'd like to move forward with the revision surgery. Please visit my website for more information about rhinoplasty and other procedures at www.kimfacialsurgery.com. All the best to you & thanks for trusting me with your concerns, Dr. Kim Labels: atlanta, botox, cosmetic, dr. kim, eyelash, eyelid, face lift, fraxel, ga, juvederm, laser, latisse, lift, plastic, surgeon, thermage, wrinkle

 Another “Ask Dr. Kim Anything”
If you ask the question, I’ll provide recommendations here on my blog for you and other subscribers who may have similar issues, but want to remain anonymous. As always, check out my website for more details and feel free to call my office for an appointment. You can also email me directly if you have a specific question you hesitate to share with others.Dr. Kim, As I’ve aged, I’m noticing that my facial skin is starting to sort of shift and sag, especially around my mouth. I have these lines now from my nose to my mouth—I’ve heard them called “parenthesis”--and I look somewhat puppet-like. This coupled with the frown lines between my eyebrows are really making me appear older and more tired than I feel. I hate to sound superficial, but I’m really starting to dislike my reflection. I do not want to have any facial plastic surgery at this point in my life—I’m only in my early forties and honestly surgery isn't in my budget, so do you have any recommendations to help my outer appearance match how I feel inside WITHOUT surgery? Thank you, Gina +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Gina, From what you’ve described, it doesn’t sound like surgery is recommended at this time. There are many nonsurgical alternatives that we can try. I suggest you visit my website and take a look at the different injectable options such as Restylane or Radiesse for the parenthesis and maybe some Botox to relax the furrowed brows. Without seeing you, I don’t want to make a definite recommendation, but these are usually good choices for smoothing wrinkles and increasing volume to give you that more refreshed look you’re seeking, without surgery--and the results can last anywhere to a few months to over a year depending what we use. Thank you for trusting me enough to ask and I look forward to possibly hearing from you and helping you achieve a more youthful you. Best, Dr. Kim * For more information about facial rejuvenation procedures or to schedule an appointment for a consultation, feel free to call our office at (770)458-4255. Dear Dr. Kim ~ Ask Me Anything "Skin"
People frequently send me emails requesting my opinion on a particular skin-related problem. It recently occurred to me to ask permission to share these inquiries and my recommendations on this blog in order to offer information to other subscribers who may have similar issues. The following email & answer may be of assistance to those of you struggling with unsightly scarring. I hope it helps. Dear Dr. Kim I was in an accident when I was a teenager which resulted in a thin scar that runs perpendicular to my jaw line about 3 ½ inches. It’s not overly obvious and my husband says he “doesn’t even notice it,” but it bothers me. The skin is raised a bit so I feel it every morning when I apply makeup. Can you recommend something to lessen the appearance of the scar and to smooth it, so I don’t notice it so much? I’m not sure I’d go as far as to have surgery, so I’m hoping there are other options. Thank you, Meredith ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Meredith Of course, I’d have to see the scar in person to make a definite recommendation, but generally the appearance of facial scars can be diminished by a technique called dermabrasion. I usually recommend waiting up to a year after injury to see how the body heals on its own. Since your injury occurred a number of years ago and it doesn’t sound like surgery is recommended, we could try dermabrasion. For lack of a better analogy, dermabrasion is like a controlled sanding down of the top layers of the skin to improve skin contour. Dermabrasion is performed in our outpatient facility and is relatively painless. After the procedure, you’ll feel as though you have a brush-burn and your skin will appear pink for up to eight weeks. You may cover the redness with makeup during the healing process. Depending on the results, an additional dermabrasion may be recommended, but given the reported details of your scarring, it sounds like one treatment would suffice. Please feel free to contact my office at 770-458-4255 to schedule a consultation if you’d like for me to take a look at the scar and possibly help you improve its appearance.
